About Our Hearing Center
Le’Anne McEachern, Au.D. Doctor of Audiology
Dr. McEachern has been providing professional audiology services since 1974. She earned academic honors from all of her training programs including: BA in Communications from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR., Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology & Audiology from University of Washington in Seattle, Doctorate in Audiology in 2007 from AT Still University (Arizona School of Health Sciences).
Le’Anne worked for otologists Dr. John Vorhees (Seattle) and Dr. John Epley (Portland) before moving to Newport, Oregon in 1982 where she opened her first audiology practice. She eventually sold her two offices and returned to school to complete her Doctorate in Audiology. She opened her current audiology practice in 2013 and moved to her permanent location in SeaTowne Shopping Center in 2014. In 2015 she expanded her practice to include full time hearing aid services. Dr. McEachern is a member of the Oregon Academy of Audiology.
Dr. McEachern enjoys helping people better understand their individual hearing needs. She works closely with patients and their families to assist them in managing their hearing challenges. She continues to stay well educated in current standards of practice and new hearing technologies.
Away from work Le’Anne enjoys time with family, including 6 young grandchildren, playing tennis, organic gardening and walking in the woods.
Keith Marquand, Hearing Aid Specialist
Keith began working with Dr. McEachern 10 years ago. He was initially her patient with a hearing loss and then a successful hearing aid wearer. He was working in the public and was not hearing coworkers or customers adequately. After working with Dr. McEachern as a patient he was offered a Job and obtained training and earned his License as a Hearing Aid Specialist in 2007. Keith is also trained and certified to perform industrial hearing exams per OSHA guidelines. Keith has also worked as a Firefighter/ EMT for the past 35+ years. He enjoys working with others and assisting them with their hearing needs.
Keith works closely with all major hearing aid manufacturers to stay current with advances in hearing technologies and new features. He is available full time for consultations and services. He provides on- site hearing aid repairs, adjustments and software reprogramming for most hearing instruments. Keith is well versed in the latest wireless hearing technologies and accessories for telephones, televisions, personal remote microphones.
When Keith is not working, or on duty he likes walking on the beaches, photography and spending time with family.
Jill Phillips, Customer Care
Jill has been working with Dr. McEachern since 2011, shortly after locating to the Newport area from Alaska. She has more than 25 years of experience in customer service and front office settings. Jill is typically the first person you will speak with on the phone or when coming in to the office and she strives to make each patients’ experience a positive one. Jill is well versed in working with medical insurance billings and Medicare.
When she is not in the office she enjoys spending time walking on the beach with her dog, sewing and cooking.
Velma Burkert, Office Support
Velma managed Dr. McEachern’s Audiology and Hearing Aid Services for over 10 years. She “retired” from office work and went on to personal caregiving for another 10 years. She has returned to work with Dr. McEachern on a part time basis. Velma helps out in many capacities both in the office and in the community. She is active with the Newport Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber Ambassadors. She donates countless hours serving many community and church projects. She enjoys her family and friends, Trailblazer Basketball, walking and reading and puzzles of many kinds.
